EM Lavender for Healing
Miyagi Prefecture, JapanBUSINESS MANAGEMENT
A LAVENDER.COM, Inc. was founded in 2014.They started using EM Technology in an 1ha land damaged by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
They have tried to grow lavender and other herbs without using any pesticides and chemical fertilizers on this land.
A LAVENDER.COM received Activated EM・1 (AEM) for free as a part of the EM volunteer contribution activities.
They grow herbs mainly for processing into products such as essential oils and floral water, but their mission is to provide healing and liveliness to neigbors who underwent the hit of the tsunami, so they also open their garden for the public during the flowering season.
Mr. Yoshida, the president, is committed to make a safe cultivation environment while aiming a cyclic farming. He particularly cares for the quality of lavender to make high quality essencial oils which will be used for welfare and support people's health.
EM APPLICATION
Originally, the field was a hard clay soil that has been cut from the mountains and eroded by the tsunami.AEM along with EM compost were added to prepare the soil, and then start to seedlings.
They continuously used AEM for watering and spraying the plants.
The fine lavender residue produced by pruning is mixed with AEM and sealed for fermentation process. Other big residues and weeds are burned to make ash and returned to the lavender field as fertilizer.
The cultivated area for the first year was of 0.15ha and then extended to 0.5ha in the second year.
EFFECTS AND RESULTS
Before using EM Technology, the soil was poor on drainage and nutrients besides being a hard clay soil. However, after using EM Technolgy, the soil turned into soft soil in a surprinsingly speed and became most suitable for cultivation. Before, it took a long time to drain water accumulated in the ridges, but after using EM Technology for one year, it was possible to walk even immediately after the rain.
Approximately 13,000 plants of two varieties of lavender: "Lavandin" and "English Lavender" are in full bloom every year.
The vice president, Ms. Okoda, thinks that taking care of flowers in this garden makes her feels healed and in better health condition. She thinks that it is the power of EM.
